As a woman in my early thirties with not-so perfect teeth, I was anxious to straighten my teeth but couldn’t stomach the idea of getting braces. I felt lucky to when missed them the first time around as all of my friends in junior high were being partially covered in wire and brackets. At the time, I was grateful to still be able to eat popcorn and tortilla chips. But now, looking at myself in photographs and in the mirror, I wanted to change the appearance of my teeth. I’m not even an incredibly superficial person, I just wanted to be more confident with my smile. The older I get, the less I am concerned about appearances, but I still wanted to be confident in my favorite feature: my smile.
Finally, after months of thinking about it, I began looking into my options. Of course getting braces were the most affordable, but I immediately ruled it out as a viable option for teeth straightening. Another option I considered was veneers. Getting veneers is a really good option simply because it really only takes one or two procedures to have the teeth you want. They were expensive but no other option would take so little time to accomplish my teeth straightening goals. My main reservation, however, was that it would simply cover my original teeth. I have had friends that have been successful with veneers but since there was nothing wrong with my teeth other than I wanted them to be straighter—I didn’t think it was my best option.
I still wanted to be discrete and use my own teeth, so my dentist Carmichael Fair Oaks recommended Invisalign. I had heard of it before but had truthfully never really considered it as an option because I thought it would be too expensive. I was happy to find out that as the process has become streamlined and popularized, the pricing has become really reasonable. I also earned that the Invisalign tray can be taken out when eating or for a special occasion (like a date). It also allows for easier brushing and flossing, which is better for overall oral health. I was really impressed with the system, which is why I ended up choosing Invisalign for my teeth straightening.
As I write this, I’m about to leave for my last appointment and I couldn’t be happier with my results. My friends say that my smile is more radiant than ever. I couldn’t agree more.
