Elsipogtog is pronounced 'L-SI-BOOK-TOOG, and it means
River of the Sacred Fire. This word refers to the red blazing reflection of the setting sun
which appears seemingly like a fire. Some Migmag say the word ELSIPOGTOG is a combination of these two words -
Elisogi nipogtog - or, "I paddle upriver into the woods".
